The Lineup for Louisville, Kentucky’s Forecastle Music+Arts+Activism festival has been released and MAN is it exciting! In it’s “15th Year at Sea” Forecastle attendees are no strangers to impressive lineups. However, this year may be more massive than recent years.  Check out Dead Audio’s coverage of Forecastle 2016.

At the top of the lineup we find a band that just last year headlined the Big 4: Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, Coachella and AC Entertainment’s biggest festival, Bonnaroo: LCD Soundsystem. LCD garnered much attention in 2016 when they reunited after a 5 year hiatus, and the critically acclaimed New York rockers did not disappoint on Roo’s Main stage (Possibly the greatest show that I have ever seen).

Other headliners this year include blast-from-the-past LA-based Weezer (can’t wait to belt out “Say it Ain’t So” with all my mates), and Catacombkid/Beaches Beaches glitchy, dreamy EDM project Odesza.

Just beneath the headliners we find a band that easily could have made the first row. Yet, that won’t deter them from delivering one of the most energetic performances you’ll see in live music today. Kentucky natives Cage the Elephant return to the waterfront after delivering an iconic performance in 2015.

The first Hip-Hop act appears on line two as well. Both El-P and Killer Mike take the rap game to another level, and their collaboration in Run the Jewels is no different. They very well could be the hottest ticket in their genre right now and it’s no doubt that Kentucky will welcome them with more than open arms. Vince Staples will also be performing, and should not be missed.

Towards the middle of the lineup we see few bands that are not unfamiliar with the Waterfront as Conor Oberst returns to Louisville after performing the festival in 2015 with his band Desaparecidos. Also, indie freak-rockers Foxygen will return.

Other notable names on the lineup include sax-infused funk DJ GRiZ, chill-synth groovers Giraffage, rap icon Waka Flocka Flame, the ever-impressive Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires and many more.  Check out the full line up (so far) here:
