James Friley, better known by his stage moniker Idiot Glee, is the Lexington music scene’s synthy, psychedelic doo-wop hero. With four albums and a handful of EPs, the artist will return home to debut his self-titled, fifth LP.  The album release show will take place this Friday, January 29th, at Al’s Bar in Lexington, event info can be found here, and also on DAB’s event calendar.

Idiot Glee is the follow up to 2013’s EP Life Without Jazz, and Friley seems to have recreated a similar sound for this record.  For the past several weeks, Idiot Glee has been teasing tracks off the new album such as the dreamy, synth-heavy love song “I Don’t Feel Right” and “Evergreen Psycho,” the latter being accompanied by a trippy, retro music video that would fit into a Wes Anderson montage.

Friley will perform with a full band this Friday in Lexington before hitting the road for an extensive North American Tour that includes the following dates:
